My Favorite Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of coconut water
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 small cucumber
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 2 cups of kale or other leafy greens
  • 2 tbsp. chia seeds or hemp seeds
  • 2 tbsp. flax seeds
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, peeled
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • Juice squeezed from one lemon

Toss all ingredients in the Vitamix and blend! Makes enough to share or drink it throughout the day. If you don’t have a high-powered blender, grind the seeds in a coffee grinder separately before adding. I admit when I make smoothies I only measure the water and seeds and then guesstimate the rest. Feel free to experiment with less fruit or more greens for the perfect amount of sweetness.

Nutrition Information

Inflammation Factor Rating is +764 which is EXCELLENT

Excellent source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, potassium, manganese, calcium, magnesium

Inflammation Factor Rating estimates the inflammatory or anti-inflammatory potential of foods by calculating the net effect of different nutritional factors such as fatty acids, antioxidants, and glycemic impact. Foods with a positive rating are considered anti-inflammatory while those with a negative rating are considered inflammatory. After adding up all foods eaten per day the goal is to have a total of at least +50. The higher the number is, the stronger the anti-inflammatory effect. You can see a number of 764 is VERY anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is the basis for chronic conditions such as heart disease, Type II diabetes, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s so eating anti-inflammatory foods such as green smoothies is a powerful way to prevent disease and gain a multitude of benefits.
